Introducing Defender

Defender is a gorgeous 15 year old anglo-trakehner standing at 16.1 hands. Sired by Dover, he was bought as a yearling with the intention of being my daughter’s next eventing horse. She has since left for college, and his training has been inconsistent. Defender has experience with first level dressage and intermediate hunter/jumper. He has been out to pasture for the past few years and needs a tune up. Defender’s movement is extraordinarily light and balanced but he will try to take advantage of a weak rider. With the pedigree of a champion, Defender is an intelligent and athletic horse with amazing potential. He will be an excellent horse for an advanced rider who is willing to give him the training he deserves.

Defender’s father, Dover, is ½ Trakehner, ¼ Selle Francais, and ¼ Thoroughbred. This mix of blood contributes to Dover’s striking appearance, athletic ability,  and competitive spirit. Dover has an extensive and successful show jumping and dressage career, and has had the honor of being made into a Breyer Horse Statue for the year 1995.

Defender’s Trakehner blood goes back to the Dingo-Dampfross line. These horses are known for their expressive heads, light beautiful movements with a particularly extraordinary trot, great impulsion and balance. Dampfross’ ability to pass on these traits with almost absolute consistency to all members of his family has made him a jewel of the Trakehner breed.

Defender’s Thoroughbred blood includes: two Ascot Gold cup winners, Foxlaw and Tiberius, one of Europe’s most important jumping sires, Rantzau, and one of the most influential Thoroughbred sires in the present day Selle Francais breed, Foxlight (sire of Rantzau). His French blood includes Bijou, who is lineage to the famous jumping stallion, Alme.
